With rumors of Ben Affleck leaving the Batman role still swirling, one rumored replacement has shot down the idea.
Jake Gyllenhaal was rumored to be The Batman writer/director Matt Reeves' leading choice to replace Affleck in the Dark Knight role, but when CNA Lifestyle asked the actor about it, he put the rumors and speculation to rest.
“Wow, that’s a very difficult question," Gyllenhaal said. “The answer to that question is ‘no’.”
Gyllenhaal has a unique history with superhero roles - he was at one-time tapped to replace Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man II, and was reportedly offered the role of Suicide Squad's Rick Flagg - but turned it down. Gyllenhaal's sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal, starred as Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight, a role she took over from Katie Holmes.
