As announced during Marvel's retailer panel at Chicago's C2E2 convention, Spider-Man's black costume will return starting with Amazing Spider-Man #800.
The costume return was revealed with a preview of uncolored interior pages by artists Stuart Immonen and Wade Von Grawbadger. Those pages, shown here, show Spider-Man and Agent Anti-Venom squaring off with Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Red Goblin.
Here are both of the pages, revealing Spidey's new (old) look, which will carry over on some level into Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley's relaunch of the title with July's "Fresh Start" Amazing Spider-Man #1.
A previously revealed cover for Amazing Spider-Man #1 showed Peter Parker in his classic blue and red costume. Marvel did not indicate whether the black costume will become Spider-Man's regular costume following its return.
Amazing Spider-Man #800 is due out on shelves May 30. Amazing Spider-Man #1 will be solicited for July.
