Wizard World reported a loss of $5.73 million for the 2017 financial year in its latest investor report, according to ICv2.

The convention company's 2017 sales came in at $14.98m - roughly one-third lower than 2016's $21.99m; that's partially attributed to a year-to-year reduction in the number of conventions (19 in 2016, 17 in 2017), however average show revenue dropped from $1.37m per-show in 2016 to $1.07m in 2017.

In 2017, Wizard World undertook significant cost-cutting measures - to date cutting out $2.2m annually in corporate expenses.

Moving forward, the company plans 17 shows in 2018.
