Marvel Entertainment has hired Sven Larsen as its new Director of Licensed Publishing. Larsen rejoins the House of Ideas after a 23-year hiatus - back in the 1990s, he was the company's Director of Marketing. As Director of Licensed Publishing, Larsen will be help with Marvel's intercompany partnership with Disney Publishing Worldwide, and also maintain and pursue licensing of Marvel work elsewhere - as well as pursue new licenses for Marvel to publish.
"Seems like the news is getting out there, so I’m excited to confirm that as of this Friday I’ll be (re)joining Marvel Entertainment as their new Director, Licensed Publishing," Larsen confirmed on Facebook. "Thanks to my new bosses, John Nee and Dan Buckley for the incredible opportunity. Can’t wait to work with old friends like Mark Paniccia, Bill Rosemann , Michael Pasciullo and all the talented folks who make Marvel so special."
In the intervening 23 years since he last was at Marvel, Larsen has worked at Time Warner, Penguin Books, Teshkeel Media Group, ZemoGA, and Papercutz. He most recently worked as a consultant for AfterShock Comics and publisher of CSI creator Anthony Zuiker's comic book company, Zuiker Press.
Larsen is scheduled to begin work Friday, and will report directly to Marvel's Publisher John Nee and President Dan Buckley.
