SUMMER FRESH1 of 12
Marvel's just-released June 2018 solicitations paint a picture of what's coming as the publisher's "Fresh Start" rolls on - and it looks like a lot of big changes for some of the publisher's top heroes.
Here we're unpacking everything we learned from Marvel's June 2018 solicitations - from new hammers, to new codenames, to dead X-Men, bad break-ups, and more.
TOOL TIME2 of 12
Two of Marvel's top Avengers are putting a greater emphasis on their weapons in June, with Thor #1 giving Thor Odinson a whole heck of a lot of new hammers and Tony Stark: Iron Man #1 getting no less than 20 different variant covers featuring his many armors.
While we could definitely see Tony Stark using upwards of 20 armor suits, is Thor really gonna go through "hundreds" of new hammers?
Maybe we shouldn't ask questions with obvious answers...
CODENAME: JIMMY3 of 12
Jimmy Hudson, the son of Ultimate Wolverine, will get a codename of his own in June's X-Men Blue #30.
Given Logan has returned and Laura Kinney is going back to X-23, it probably won't be "Wolverine."
THE TRIAL OF DOOM4 of 12
Victor Von Doom may have (mostly) turned over a new leaf in his time as the Infamous Iron Man - but not long ago, he was a cosmic dictator remaking the universe in his image in Secret Wars. In June's Marvel 2-In-One Annual #1, he'll have to answer for those acts - in front of the council of Reeds, a multidimensional gathering of incarnations of hated nemesis Reed Richards.
Meanwhile, over in Exiles #4, another piece of Fantastic Four lore will surface as the Exiles confront Blackbeard - A.K.A. Ben Grimm, who impersonated the pirate while time traveling on an early FF adventure.
KAMALA KAHN TURNS 505 of 12
June's Ms. Marvel #31 marks the 50th issue of Kamala Khan's solo adventures (spread out over two volumes, of course).
To celebrate, she's getting an oversized issue featuring some guest creators including Saladin Ahmed and Rainbow Rowell.
RUNAWAYS BREAK UP6 of 12
June's Runaways #10 may put the pin in a "fan-favorite" relationship between two Runaways.
We're just hoping Gert and Old Lace don't call it quits.
T'CHALLA WHO?7 of 12
The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda might be in big trouble in June, with the solicitation for Black Panther #2 foretelling a rebellion Wakanda will have to survive without its leader.
And where is T'Challa? According to the solicitation, he's lost all memory of his past.
PRINCESS FISK8 of 12
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #32 will introduce a new enemy for Lunella Lafayette - none other than Princess Fisk, the daughter of Wilson Fisk, the mayor of New York and arch-enemy of both Spider-Man and Daredevil.
And, here's a twist - it seems the pair will meet on that most vicious battlefield of all - public school.
MISSING IN ACTION9 of 12
Three titles are missing from Marvel's June 2018 solicitations.
First, there's All-New Wolverine, which was previously announced to be ending.
But also missing are Falcon and Spider-Man.
May's Spider-Man #40 marks the end of writer Brian Michael Bendis' tenure writing Miles Morales, which may mean it's also the end of the (current) title.
As for Falcon, June will mark the release of a trade collection of the series' six issues.
MUTANT MASSACRE10 of 12
The X-Men's "wedding of the century" between Kitty Pryde and Colossus is coming in X-Men Gold #30, but before that the whole team will have to get back from outer space - and they may not all survive.
The solicitation for X-Men Gold #29 portends an ominous prelude to Kitty and Piotr's big day, foretelling a "fatal confrontation" with a new villain.
SLOTT & MARTIN SAY GOODBYE11 of 12
We've known for a while that Dan Slott will vacate his longtime post as the writer of Amazing Spider-Man with June's #801. Now we know that his artistic collaborator on his final issue will be Marcos Martin.
Together, Slott and Martin will create a tale that, according to the solicitation, "pulls no punches."
