A purported cast list for Avengers: Infinity War posted on review aggregator Metacritic lists Marvel's Silver Surfer as a part of the cast, played by actor Curt Clendenin.

It is unclear from where Metacritic sourced the cast list; for example, none of the Black Order are listed, and actor Peter Dinklage is listed as "Principal Cast" rather than under his character name.

Also included in the list (along with the expected Marvel heroes as previously advertised) are Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, Michael Rooker's Yondu (who director James Gunn said could theoretically appear in a flashback after his death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2), Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne, and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill. Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, both previously listed as part of the film but unseen in Marvel's recent marketing, are also listed as cast members.

If the cast list is accurate, Silver Surfer would be the first character whose film rights are currently controlled by 20th Century Fox to appear in a Marvel Studios film since news of Marvel's potential buyout of Fox.

Silver Surfer previously appeared in Fox's 2007 film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Marvel and Fox have previously made deals to share certain characters, with the prime examples being Quicksilver who has appeared separately in films from both studios, and Ego the Living Planet, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 thanks to an agreement with Fox.

Should Disney's potential purchase of 20th Century Fox be finalized, the film rights for the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters controlled by Fox would theoretically then revert to Disney/Marvel Studios.

Avengers: Infinity War is due out in theaters April 7.
