Two Arrested In Theft of CAPTAIN AMERICA's Shield (and $1.4m In Other MARVEL Memorabilia)

Two individuals have been arrested by the Rancho Cucomonga Police Department on charges stemming from the alleged theft of $1.4 million dollars in Marvel Comics-themed collectibles. According to a report from RCPD, Ian Florez and Matthew Rinke were arrested for the burglary of a storage facility containing those goods owned by an unidentified victim.

"On February 22, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a storage facility regarding a burglary. The victim was made aware his storage units were burglarized after he received information several of his Marvel collectibles were listed for sale on the internet," the RCPD outlines in their report. "Some of the stolen items were used as movie props in Marvel movies."

Florez and Rinke were identified after an RCPD investigation, and arrested soon after. A search of a seperate storage unit Rinke rented in the city of Colton found much of the alleged stolen property.

The two individuals were booked into the West Valley Detention Center with a bail set at $25,000 each.
