Long-time Unbeatable Squirrel Girl artist Erica Henderson has announced she is leaving the title after three years for a new, as-yet-unspecified creator-owned project.

"Hey guys. It's officially official. The issue of Squirrel Girl I'm drawing right now is my last. Writing this now to get ahead of the rumor mill," Henderson tweeted. "FAQ: 1. I left of my own accord to pursue creator owned work. 2. The book is not over. 3. I'll still be doing covers."

Henderson is solicited through May's Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #32, and has drawn the series since January 2015 through several relaunches.

"It's been a great three years but three years is a long time and I'd like to be able to branch out at this point," Henderson continued. "I'll miss my amazing team and I'll miss being able to play in that Marvel sandbox but the future awaits!"

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl plans post-May 2018 have not been announced, nor has a "Fresh Start" version of the title.
