New Mutants actress Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Illyana Rasputin in the film, recently comment on the reshoots that have pushed the film's theatrical release back from its original April 13 date until 2019 and the new character that will be added .
“I do think that there is a great responsibility to make sure the movie is done right and that we deliver the fans something that they can all feel happy about and excited about,” Taylor-Joy told The Playlist. “So, I don’t think it being delayed is a bad thing because it’s definitely more important to make sure that we get it right than rushing to make a date. So, hopefully, all of these reshoots and adding of the new character that will give the fans an altogether satisfactory, wonderful product.”
Taylor-Joy also gave no indication of who the character may be - but given no casting announcements have come forth, it's easy to speculate it could be a CGI version of Warlock, the techno-organic alien who was part of the core team in the 80s.
New Mutants is scheduled for a February 22, 2019 theatrical release.
