In terms of Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, the Avengers still don't know that Agent Coulson, whose death solidified their bond as a team, isn't dead after all - and it's only been 6 years. But according to Marvel's head of TV Jeph Loeb, that dangling thread will be resolved - and maybe sooner than we think.
“It’s certainly something that will get resolved, and it may get resolved in a very surprising way,” Loeb told Entertainment Weekly.
As for when that resolution may come, Coulson himself, actor Clark Gregg, says he's waiting to find out with the rest of us.
“When they feel like it’s time to start connecting any of these worlds, they will,” said Gregg. “I feel like I’ll hear from them then, but in the meantime, I have my hands full trying to do a good job on [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.]”
Coulson isn't in Avengers: Infinity War - the giant MCU spanning film that brings together its biggest heroes - at least not as far as we know. That film is due out in theaters April 27.
