20th Century Fox are sending the New Mutants film back into production this summer for additional filming - that will "insert a new character into the thriller," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new character was unspecified.
In early January, New Mutants's release date was pushed back 10 months, going from April 13, 2018 to February 22, 2019. At the time, THR quoted unnamed insiders saying the reason was to avoid competition with other X-Men movies overseas.
Earlier this month New Mutants co-star Maisie Williams (who plays Wolfsbane) shot down talk of reshoots as unfounded "rumors," telling ScreenRant that she herself had not been contacted about reshoots.
“I think everything you’ve just rattled off is just rumors. But we’re releasing early next year and I’m properly excited," Williams said earlier this month. "I’ve seen little parts of it and I’ve done a load of ADR for it and it’s really exciting watching it all back. It feels a long while since we’ve done it, and I always enjoy going seeing little bits of it before it’s released, so I’m looking forward to it coming out.”
Reshoots wouldn't necessarily need to include - or inform - Williams, but the studio has not confirmed or denied the reshoots itself.
