Brian K. Vaughan is writing a standalone Silver Surfer movie for 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Legion showrunner Noah Hawley previously confirmed he was developing a Doctor Doom movie for Fox as well.
The Hollywood trade said Fox's plans for X-Men and Fantastic Four-related movies are unabetted by the Walt Disney Company's planned acquisition of the studio and other Fox assets.
Brian Michael Bendis, who was hired earlier this month to script a Kitty Pryde movie for Fox, is quoted as saying the acquistion doesn't affect that project at all.
“It does not affect this project in any way, shape or form is what I was told,” Bendis said. "At least at the moment, it's certainly decisions over my pay-grade if it ends up doing so."
Fox has two X-Men movies slated for 2018 - May's Untitled Deadpool Sequel and November's X-Men: Dark Phoenix - and plans to ramp it up with three annually beginning in 2019. New Mutants is currently set for a February 22, 2019 date, with other projects including X-Force, Kitty Pryde, Multiple Man, Gambit, all unscheduled.
