X-Men: Gold writer Marc Guggenheim is spinning off the Kitty Pryde/Colossus nuptials into its own conclusive one-shot in May titlted X-Men Wedding Special #1. Picking up from the "'Til Death Do Us Part" arc in X-Men: Gold #26 through #30, X-Men Wedding Special will feature a lead story by Guggenheim and co-writer Kelly Thompson that will be "a celebration, Marvel style, with all the action, adventure and surprises that you’ve come to know and love from Marvel’s merry mutants."
"X-Men weddings are always a big deal, if only because they're so rare,” said Thompson, who's writing Rogue & Gambit. “I think you probably have to go all the way back to X-Men #30 in 1994 - the wedding of Jean Grey and Cyclops - to get a wedding as potentially big as the wedding of Kitty Pryde and Colossus: two X-Men who've been around (and on again/off again) for literal decades.”
In addition, the metaphorical father of the bride - co-creator Chris Claremont - is returning to the X-titles for a back-up story described as "when super heroes get together, mayhem ensues…and the X-Men are no exception." This will be Claremont's first new X-Men story in three years.
Marvel lists the artists for X-Men Wedding Special #1 as Greg Land, Marika Cresta, "& more" but doesn't specify which stories they'll be drawing.
X-Men Wedding Special #1 is scheduled to be released May 16.
