Diamond Comic Distributors has announced a group of hirings and promotions in its Marketing and Purchasing departments.
Jim Kuhoric has returned to Diamond as Purchasing Director, a role he previously held during a Diamond tenure that ran from 1994 to 2011. From 2011 to 2016 Kuhoric was Avatar Press' VP of Publishing and Managing Editor of its comic line and BleedingCool; after that he was Senior director of Product Development at Dynamite Entertainment. In his role as Diamond's Purchasing Director, Kuhoric will once again oversee business dealings with comic book publishers.
“Jim is extremely knowledgeable and well respected throughout the comic book industry. Not only does he know how we conduct business at Diamond, but he’s proven to help make publishers successful," said Diamond's VP of Purchasing Tim Lenaghan, whom Kuhoric will report to. "As a result, I think he will be a big asset to Diamond and we’re happy to have him back."
Diamond's Caitlin McCabe has also been promoted to the position of Director of Purchasing - specifically focused on Diamond's business dealings with Image Comics. McCabe originally joined Diamond in 2013 following a stint at Barnes & Noble, working up from Brand Manager to Print Team Manager, Purchasing Manager and now this new role.
“I am excited to take on my new role as Director of Purchasing and look forward greatly to using my experiences and knowledge so that I can best assist Image in exploring and implementing new opportunities for growth and development," said McCabe. "As Director of Purchasing, it is also my goal to continue to work internally with my fellow Diamond teammates so that together we can keep finding ways that can help all publishers in our great industry grow their respective businesses."
McCabe also works as a contributing editor for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
Megan Cosman and Leigh Tyberg have transferred from other Diamond departments to become Brand Managers for Purchasing. Cosman previously worked in Diamond's Marketing department, while Tyberg was a New Accounts Representative.
Over in the Marketing department, Andrea Purcell has been promoted to Retailer Marketing Manager - overseeing Diamond's Retailer Services website and Diamond Daily retailer e-newsletter.
“I’m excited to step into my new role at Diamond. As a former comic shop employee, I look forward to helping busy retailers better navigate Diamond’s Retailer Services website, and I hope that my experience as well as my time at Diamond will help me craft a Diamond Daily that retailers look forward to reading each morning,” said Purcell.
Purcell joined Diamond in 2014 after working at Collector's Corner, a Baltimore-area comic shop. Purcell progressed from intern to Marketing Editorial Assistant, Web Content Assistant, and into her new role. In addition to that, Purcell also accepted an outside position as assistant editor of Iron Circus (which is not distributed by Diamond, but rather Consortium).
Diamond's Troy Allen has been promoted to be its Consumer Marketing Digital Content Editor - Comics, overseeing all of the comic-related content on PreviewsWorld.com. Allen has worked for Diamond since 2015.
Diamond has also hired three new people for its Marketing department: Amber Birt as Social MEdia Marketing Coordinator; Ethan Felderstein as Consumer Marketing Digital Content Editor - Toys; and Ashton Greenwood as Publicity and Promotions Associate.
