Sony Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are courting F. Gary Gray to spearhead a planned Men In Black relaunch film, according to Deadline. A script by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum has already been completed, with the studio greenlighting that draft to begin pre-production work on the film itself.
Described as a "re-imagining of the original premise" from the comic book created by Lowell Cunningham and Sandy Carruthers, this comes on the heels of Sony's successful relaunch of the Jumanji franchise. Deadline compares this relaunch to the recent Jurassic World, and neither Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith are expected to reprise their roles.
This Men In Black film is scheduled for theatrical relwase June 14, 2019.
