Hans Zmimer has come out of self-imposed retirement from scoring superhero movies to score 20th Century Fox's upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Zimmer has worked as a film composer since the early 1980s, but became best known for superhero work with Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy and then both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In March 2016, Zimmer publicly retired from the genre.
Zimmer takes over the X-Men moving scoring duties from John Ottman, who worked on both X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled to open in theaters November 2.
