The Walt Disney Company has announced plans to give a one-time $1,000 cash bonus to over 125,000 employees and invest $50 million in an employee education program, according to CNBC. This would include all Marvel Entertainment employees but not independent contractors/freelancers. Disney's executive-level employees are also exempt from the bonus.
"We are directing approximately $125 million to our cast members and employees across the country and making higher education more accessible with the launch of this new program," said CEO Bob Iger.
The $1,000 cash bonus reportedly applies to any full- or part-time employees who started before this year and remain employed. Those eligible will receive the bonus in two parts, one in March and the other in September.
Forbes recently estimated that as of 2016, Disney has over 195,000 employees.
