Did MARVEL COMICS Just Signal a CAPTAIN MARVEL Cameo in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR?

In its latest round of solicitations, Marvel Comics may be signaling big Marvel Studios plans for Captain Marvel - just in time for May's Avengers: Infinity War.

In Marvel's April 2018 solicitations, the publisher is offering 10 new True Believers titles - low-cost reprints of stories relevant to contemporary Marvel events. The program isn't exclusive to movie releases - most recently in December 10 True Believers Phoenix titles were published in conjunction with the original Jean Grey's return in Marvel comic books. But the publishing program has been timed to movie releases in the past, including a round of Spider-Man titles last June and July to coincide with July's Spider-Man: Homecoming and a slate of Deadpool titles released in January 2016 prior to 20th Century Fox's Deadpool, which opened on Valentine's Day in February of that year.

So what is the latest round highlighting? Take a look:

The reprints primarily comprise stories related to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet - no-brainers considering the role that Thanos and the Gauntlet play in Avengers: Infinity War. But tucked in at the end is a reprint of Marvel Super-Heroes #13, the first appearance of Carol Danvers as a supporting character for Mar-Vell, several years prior to her becoming Ms. Marvel.

With this reprint coming just in time to be in stores right before Avengers: Infinity War, could Marvel be foreshadowing a glimpse at Brie Larson's version of Captain Marvel in its climactic Avengers movie?

Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo has previously said that Carol wouldn't appear in the film, though we know she will appear in the untitled fourth Avengers film, which is currently in production. Is it possible Marvel Studios may drop Carol Danvers into the film in a cameo, or perhaps one of its notorious post-credits "stinger" scenes, and Marvel Comics wants to have a low-cost entry title on the shelves for curious fans?

Carol's solo comic book title will be on hiatus in April - possibly relating to Infinity Countdown, the new comic book event of course also timed to the release of Avengers: Infinity War.

So the real question becomes, are the True Believer titles there primarily to coincide with the movie, or the comic book limited series that's there to coincide with the movie?

True Believers: Carol Danvers #1 is due out on shelves April 25. Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled for a May 4 theatrical release.
