WWE wrestler John Cena has joined the voice cast of Nickelodeon's upcoming 2-D animated Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Cena will portray a new villain named Baron Draxum in a recurring role, beginning with the series premiere.
"Not only do I get to be a cartoon character in the new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, but I get to be a villian, too," Cena told The Hollywood Reporter.
According to THR, Baron Draxum's villainous goal is to turn all of New York City's humans into mutants.
This continues TMNT's long history with using wrestlers as villains, going all the way back to Kevin Nash as Super-Shredder in 1991's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze to Sheamus as Rocksteady in 2016's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is scheduled to premiere in September on Nickelodeon.
