VIZ Media has hired David Brothers as an editor for its manga line. Brothers left Image Comics in December 2017 after a four-and-a-half year stint as its Branding Manager and Content Manager, overseeing Image+, its company podcast, and its convention panels.
"I probably won’t talk about it online much but I’m stoked," Brothers tweeted about the new position at VIZ. "The office is hella diverse and cool. Also the chairs are pretty comfortable."
Brothers is relocating back to the Bay Area to work out of VIZ's San Francisco offices, but will continue to edit Greg Rucka and Michael Lark's Lazarus at Image on a freelance basis. Brothers will also continue his involvement in the Creators for Creators non-profit.
Brothers was among the core Image Comics' staffers that relocated when Image moved from Berkeley, California to Portland, Oregon. In addition to his duties at Image, Brothers has also freelance edited several independent titles including Wytches, The Fade Out, and Velvet.
Previous to his time at Image, Brothers wrote and edited for Off Base Productions, Comics Alliance, Pop Culture Shock, and Hardcore Gamer.
