Long-time Marvel Entertainment staffer Ben Morse has announced his departure from the company to become a professor. Morse is leaving his position a Marvel Digital Media's Editorial Director to become a Visiting Professor of New Media at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
"After a terrific 10 years, tomorrow will be my last day in the Marvel offices for the time being. It has been a decade of working at my literal dream job -when I was in fifth grade I wrote an essay about working for Marvel when I grew up (and playing in the NBA)," Morse tweeted. "I’m so grateful to everybody who made it possible. In particular, thank you Dan Buckley and John Dokes for the initial opportunity, and thank you John Cerilli and Ryan Penagos for helping me grow in every possible way. And of course thank you to my wonderful wife Megan for providing me with constant love and support."
"I could continue to list off thank you notes, but inevitably I would miss not just one or two people, but dozens; that’s how blessed I’ve been during my time at Marvel," Morse continued. "From co-workers to creators to the fabulous people who listen to This Week in Marvel, I consider you all friends and love you all; I truly can’t thank you enough. I am blessed in so many ways."
Morse joined Marvel in 2007 as an assistant editor, working his way up to Senior Editor of Marvel's website then eventually Editorial Director of Digital Media. Morse previously worked at Wizard.
Tucker Markus and Ron Richards are assuming some of Morse's duties for the time being, as no new Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media has been named.
