The solicit for Stan Sakai's long-running Usagi Yojimbo in Dark Horse Comics' March 2018 solicitations came with a bit of a surprise - it's relaunching with a new #1. As Marvel and DC have slowly begun reverting back to "legacy" numbering of previous volume, Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo will be relaunched with a new first issue - as the miniseries Usagi Yojimbo: The Hidden #1.
But for fans of high-numbered titles, Dark Horse said that the series will also continue it's numbering - with the indicia for that issue listing it as Usagi Yojimbo #166, continuing from January 2018's planned Usagi Yojimbo #165. This third volume of Usagi Yojimbo has been running since 2001.
Dark Horse employs a similiar tactic with B.P.R.D. which is listed both as a series of miniseries but also continues its issue numbers unabated in the indicia information.
The publisher's intent is to encourage new readers to jump in and not be dissauged by the high-numbering.
