DC Entertainment staffer Kate Durre and her family have lost their home as a result of the Creek Canyon fires currently running through South California. The fire struck the home on early Tuesday morning, with Durre's family escaping just as the fire came into their backyard. Durre and her family (including their pets) are safe. Following this tragedy, Durre's colleagues at DC have begun pulling together to raise funds for Kate and her family to get back on their feet and attempt to restore their dwelling.

"We, her friends and colleagues at DC Entertainment, are reaching out for support to help them stay safe and warm, get back on their feet, and help restore what can be of their dream home," wrote Lalida Chirasheve, DC's Director of Administration. "All monies raised will be given directly to Kate and Jonathan to buy whatever necessities they need to rebuild their home/life since they have nothing but the clothes on their backs."

Chirasheve has organized a GoFundMe for this cause, which has raised over $21,000 to date.

"Thank you all for sharing and your generosity," wrote Jonathan Durre, Kate's spounse. "I think we've cried more from this overflowing kindness than from anything we've lost. We have a new understanding of what we mean to our friends and family. So many folks have given and we don't know them or remain anonymous. It's hard to feel like we've lost anything when so many people, lives and relationships mean so much more than things, with so many people to care about in our lives. Thank you for reminding us you're all there. Just,WOW, thank you."
