The women of the Scooby Doo gang are getting their own live-action spin-off film.
The film, entitled Daphne and Velma, will star Sarah Jeffery as Daphne Blake and Sarah Gilman as Velma Dinkley. It is being produced by WB's television media subsidiary Blue Ribbon Content and actress Ashley Tisdale's Blondie Girl Productions.
Daphne and Velma will go back to the pair's origins as mystery solving teens who meet online and come together to solve the disappearance of a top student.
“We wanted to give the audience a new take on these two familiar faces, who are fan favorites in the Scooby-Doo universe,” said Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President, Blue Ribbon Content & Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Warner Bros. Animation. “Daphne and Velma are two iconic and strong female characters, and this latest adventure of theirs will be both inspiring and entertaining for the audience.”
The direct-to-video feature is currently in production for a 2018 release.
