The Comcast Corporation has approached 21st Century Fox about a possible acquisition, according to the Wall Street Journal. While the reported talks between Fox and Disney concerned a partial buyout of its non-news and non-sports assets, the full scope of the alleged Fox/Comcast talks are unknown.
Fox has numerous assets that would be advantageous for Comcast to own, but for comic book fans they would center around the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four, as well as the company's ownership stake in BOOM! Studios.
Comcast acquired DreamWorks in April 2016, which included the animation studio as well as ownership of Casper the Friendly Ghost, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Gold Key characters such as Magnus Robot Fighter, Doctor Solar, and Turok.
As of November 10, CNBC reports that a deal between Fox and Disney is still on the table.
