Updated November 27, 2017: Gazillion Entertainment, the makers of the MMORPG Marvel Heroes, closed its doors unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, according to Kotaku. This comes following Disney's announcement it was discontinuing licensing of the Marvel Heroes game

According to multiple employees, Gazillion laid off its entire staff on Thanksgiving eve.

Marvel Heroes was originally scheduled to close in late December, but the company moved up the closure to November 24.

Original Story: Disney has announced it will end its partnership with Gazillion Entertainment, the producers of the Marvel Heroes game. As a result Marvel Heroes will be shut down.

Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play MMO in which players take control of popular Marvel Heroes. Marvel often pointed to the game as the spiritual successor to its Marvel Ultimate Alliance games.

“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down," said Disney in a statement. "We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”

The servers will be shut down on December 31, 2017, with all real money purchase removed "as soon as possible."
