Updated January 2, 2018: Gambit has been named as the final member of the X-Men: Red team led by Jean Grey.

“Things have heated up with attacks on mutants across the globe,” says series editor Mark Paniccia. “We know that one of the X-Men’s most powerful villains is behind the chaos, but will Jean, Nightcrawler, All-New Wolverine and Honey Badger have a chance to stop the next deadly wave? A favorite Cajun mutant might be able to tip the scales in their favor… but at what cost?”

The character's involvement was held back a a mystery when the series was first announced back in November, with his membership revealed alongside April's X-Men: Red #3 cover by Travis Charest.

Original Story: Marvel Comics has revealed the line-up to the February-debuting new X-Men team book lead by the soon-to-be-resurrected original Jean Grey, X-Men Red from writer Tom Taylor and artist Mahmud Asrar, with covers from Travis Charest.

The new team includes the Wakandan mutant Gentle, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Nightcrawler, the 'all-new' Wolverine, her sister Gabby, and the mysterious, never-before-seen Trinary.

Plus Marvel just promised one more team member.

“We’ve also got one more fan-favorite hero joining the team in this first arc,” says X-Men group editor Mark Paniccia in a press release. “As the threat level escalates, Jean needs to build a highly specialized team…not just those she trusts, but allies who can survive the oncoming storm.”

Additional covers to X-Men: Gold #1 will be provided by Rob Liefeld, Skottie Young, Phil Jimenez, and John Tyler Christopher.
