Following months of back-and-forth reports about the future of Ben Affleck-as-Batman beyond this week's Justice League, the actor has publicly confirmed he's looking for an exit. In an interview with USA Today, Affleck is asked about the upcoming Matt Reeves' The Batman film (which Affleck was originally announced to co-write, direct, and star in).
"[It's] something I’m contemplating,” said Affleck. “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”
The word "graceful" is a conspicious choice of words, as "gracefully" was used to described how Warner Bros. would reportedly remove Affleck from the role back in July 2017. Affleck shot back at those rumors days later at Comic-Con International: San Diego, saying he planned to be in Reeves' Batman film.
Neither The Batman or the delayed Justice League sequel have release dates.
