Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is slated to debut as Black Adam in Warner Bros.'s Suicide Squad 2, according to The Wrap. The Amanda Waller-led team will reportedly be sent to track down a "weapon of mass destruction" which turns out to be Black Adam.
Although initially hired to debut in 2019's Shazam!, the Rock's Black Adam role evolved over time to include a solo film and a changed start-point - which the actor alluded to back in May.
“We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced," Johnson told Fandango.
Gavin O'Connor was recently reported as writer/director of Suicide Squad 2, with production scheduled to begin in October 2018. No release date has been scheduled but the studio has four unnamed dates reserved for DC Films projects: November 1, 2019, February 14, 2020, June 5, 2020, and July 24, 2020.
