Sony Corporation announced its Q2 2017 earnings reports, with Spider-Man: Homecoming and the PlayStation 4 leading big revenue gains. The Tokyo-based company reports 22.1% revenue growth over the previous fiscal year, with a net profit of $1.16 billion.
PlayStation 4 and its games drove sales in Sony's 'Games and Networks Services' division to a sales gain of 35.4% year-to-year.
Sony's 'Pictures' division jumped up 27% year-to-year with "strong worldwide theatrical performance" of Spider-Man: Homecoming, as well as revenues from its Indian sports network TEN Sports.
With this good news, Sony has ratcheted up its overall forecast for the 2017 fiscal year from the figures announced in August, with the company now expecting a net profit of $3.36b (up from $2.26b).
