CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed for a second season following the airing of the first six episodes.

“In just six episodes, Star Trek: Discovery has driven subscriber growth, critical acclaim and huge global fan interest for the first premium version of this great franchise,” said CBS Interactive's President/COO Marc DeBevoise. “This series has a remarkable creative team and cast who have demonstrated their ability to carry on the Star Trek legacy. We are extremely proud of what they’ve accomplished and are thrilled to be bringing fans a second season of this tremendous series.”

CBS has not disclosed how many episodes were ordered for the second season.

Star Trek: Discovery premiered on CBS with 9.6m viewers before transitioning to the CBS All Access subcription service. The first nine episodes will run through November 12, with a winter hiatus before the final six resume beginning in January 2018.
