The latest social media message by director Ron Howard from the set of the Star War: Han Solo film digs deep into Lucasfilm lore to reveal that the comedic duo Tag and Bink will debut in the 2019 film. Take a look:
That is Howard with screenwriter Jon Kasdan and assistant director Toby Hefferman - the later two, of course, in Imperial officer uniforms. Kasdan himself confirmed the Tag and Bink easter egg when the characters' original co-creator Kevin Rubio tweeted about it.
Thank You, Kevin. I'm a huge fan and I had to get 'em in there, and then had to play it myself (with Toby Hefferman) to do it justice— Jon Kasdan (@JonKasdan) October 14, 2017
Tag and Bink were created in 2001 for Dark Horse's line of now out-of-continuity Star Wars titles by Kevin Rubio. In their series Tag & Bink Are Dead, the duo are revealed to be forgotten parts of the larger Star Wars storyline by inadvertantly causing many of the major events in the movies. They were created as analogues to the titular lead characters of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
The Han Solo film is scheduled for release May 25, 2018.
