Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy will reunite in the near future for a new series titled Batman: Last Knight. Originally intended to run as the final six issues of Snyder's All-Star Batman, the story was postponed for Dark Nights: Metal and Murphy's Batman: The White Knight.

“I want [Batman: Last Knight] to be my last Batman story for a long time,” Snyder said during the Batman spotlight panel at New York Comic Con. "Batman suddenly wakes up and he’s young... but he wakes up in this post-apocalyptic wasteland, crawling out of the sand in this Gotham City that’s been ruined. He’s got the Joker’s head chained to his belt, but it’s alive and like ‘You gotta move, kid!’ It’s got old Wonder Woman, Baby Superman - it’s like my Lone Wolf and Cub Batman story.”

Snyder and Murphy have worked together on several occasions ranging from American Vampire to The Wake, and even Snyder's previous Batman run.

"We did a short story together in Batman #27," Murphy told Newsarama in 2016. "It was a futuristic story about where Scott's version of Batman was headed. These six issues will expand that idea."

"It's almost like a Mad Max Batman story in the future," Snyder told Newsarama earlier this year. "It's really nuts, but it connects the continuity."

No release date for Batman: Last Knight was given.
