DC is framing 2018's Action Comic #1000 as a milestone occasion, and following Thursdays's New York Comic Con reveal of a homage logo for the issue they have now revealed details of what - and who - will be inside the book.
Scheduled to be released in March 2018, the oversized Action Comics #1000 will have a lead story by Dan Jurgens and Pete Tomasi, as well as a cavalcade of back-up stories including a Geoff Johns/Richard Donner reunion. No artists were named for these stories.
DC will also release a companion hardcover book that will focus on the original Action Comics #1 and select titles in the series over the years, as well as new essays about the work from Jules Feiffer and former DC publisher (and the book's "guest editor") Paul Levitz.
Additionally, there will be an unpublished 1940s Superman tale believed by DC to be by Superman's creators, Jerry and Joe Shuster. This new alleged Siegel/Shuster story was said to be found in the DC archives back in the 1960s and "hidden away until now."
