After becoming a central part of last season's storyline on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley has been promoted to series regular by the ABC show.
Announced via Deadline, Cordova-Buckley's new status confirms her character, Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez will be a permanent fixture as the show debuts its fifth season later this year.
Executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen and Jeffrey Bell released a statement calling the Mexican actress a "powerhouse" and saying she has "imbued" Yo-Yo with her "natural strength and humor."
Cordova-Buckley, who plays an Inhuman with super speed, is scheduled appear at New York Comic Con Agents panels on October 7 with Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb, Clark Gregg and other Agents co-stars. The panel, which takes place at the Theater on Madison Square Garden, is expected to reveal new Season 5 footage.
