A Stan Lee biopic hasn't been announced yet, but the venerable co-creator of many Marvel characters may already have someone in mind to play him in his younger days - Leonardo DiCaprio.
“Believe it or not, I’ve already discussed it with Leonardo DiCaprio,” Lee told an audience over the weekend at Hasbro's HasCon (via Adventures in Poor Taste). “He’s a neighbor of mine and we were talking one day some months ago, and he said, ‘Boy it’d be fun to do your story on the screen.' So I said, ‘Well, I’ll audition you.’ Gotta make sure the guy can do it.”
In September 2016, 20th Century Fox announced plans to make a film based on Stan Lee - though rather than being a biographical film, it frames Lee as a "James Bond-like" secret agent. Fox may also control the rights to Lee's actual life story.
DiCaprio is no stranger to bipoics - he portrayed Howard Hughes in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator. Hughes was one of Lee's biggest inspirations for the character of Tony Stark.
DiCaprio is reportedly being sought by Warner Bros. to play the Joker in a hardboiled version of his origin in a film.
