Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok is the most anticipated movie this fall according to a user survey conducted by the leading online ticket retailer Fandango. With a window of September to November (which would exclude December movies such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi), the Thor three-quel beat out Justice League, Blade Runner 2049, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and It.
In the sub-categories of Comedy and Family movies, A Bad Moms Christmas and Pixar's Coco won the top spots respctively.
When polled specifically about "most anticipated" male and female actors, Thor: Ragnarok's Chris Hemsworth and Justice League's Gal Gaot won in their respective categories. The male actor list was (in order) Hemsworth, Ryan Gosling, Idris Elba, Channing Tatum, and Ben Affleck. For female actors, it was Gadot, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, and Mila Kunis.
“Moviegoers always look forward to the fall season when some of the year’s best films debut,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “This year there's an especially diverse slate full of a little something for everyone. Thor: Ragnarok claims the most anticipated title, thanks to the overwhelming momentum and excitement the Marvel Studios brand has built up over the years, plus fans can’t wait to see more of Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, as well as Cate Blanchett and Tessa Thompson in new-to-the-franchise roles.”
Advance tickets for Thor: Ragnarok went on sale Thursday, and Marvel released a new motion poster online hyping up the fact:
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to debut November 3, with Justice League following on November 17.
