Gavin O'Connor has been tapped to direct Warner Bros.'s untitled Suicide Squad sequel, according to Deadline.
Warner Bros. intends for Suicide Squad 2 to begin filming in 2018 according to a secondary report from Variety. The Hollywood trade's Justin Kroll previously said that Suicide Squad 2 wouldn't begin filming until fall 2018 at the earliest due to Will Smith's busy schedule.
O'Connor recently directed the Ben Affleck film The Accountant for Warner Bros. He previously directed Jane Got a Gun and The Warrior, and is an executive producer (and the pilot director) for FX's The Americans. O'Connor has a busy schedule of planned films including Hollywood Gang's Massacre in the Himalayas, Imperative Entertainment's Atlantic Wall, and Warner Bros.'s Father Daughter Time.
No release date has been set for the Suicide Squad sequel.
