Warner Bros.'s Suicide Squad 2 could be delayed to 2019 or beyond due to the schedule of Will Smith, according to Variety's Justin Kroll. Kroll tweeted out that the film - which was announced in March 2016 for a 2017 shooting schedule - won't begin filming until fall 2018 at the earliest "because of Smith's schedule with Aladdin and Gemini."
Following the success of Suicide Squad, Smith filmed a second film with director David Ayer - Netflix's Bright - which is scheduled to debut December 22. It is unclear if Smith's schedule is delaying Suicide Squad 2 however, or if the delays to that film prompted him to book other work in its place.
Suicide Squad 2 was one of several films that Warner Bros. promoted recently at its Hall H Comic-Con International: San Diego.
