Housebound writer/director Gerard Johnstone has been hired to do a new draft of the long-simmering Justice League Dark film script for Warner Bros., reports Deadline. Johnstone is also reportedly in the running to direct the film, whose most-recent director Doug Liman left earlier this year.

Johnstone made his directorial debut with Housebound, and previously created the TV series The Jaquie Brown Diaries.

It director Andy Muschietti was previously reported to be in the running to direct Justice League Dark, but according to Deadline the pre-release buzz for his Stephen King remake has led the director to focus on a sequel and not take on another film project.

Justice League Dark has been in development as a Warner Bros. film project since 2012.
