NBC's planned Xena: Warrior Princess reboot has been shelved. NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said that the network didn't think the plans for the reboot weren't strong enough.
"Nothing is happening on that right now. We looked at some material; we decided at that point that it didn't warrant the reboot," Salke told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'd never say never on that one because it's such a beloved title, but the current incarnation of it is dead."
The Xena reboot was first announced back in August 2015, with Javier Grillo-Marxuach in as showrunner. Grillo-Marxauch left the project back in April 2017 due to "unsurmountable creative differences,"and this week the NBC head said they needed someone with a clear "point of view."
"I need someone to come in with a point of view about what they want to do," said Salke.
