Following Casey Affleck's comments that his brother Ben Affleck may not appear in The Batman, Buzzfeed reports that an unnamed representative of Ben Affleck told them the actor would "continue on as Batman as long as the studio will have him."

This echoes the sentiments Affleck expressed at Comic-Con International: San Diego, where he reiterated his commitment to the role, saying “Let me be very clear. I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest character in any universe - DC, Marvel and I’m so thrilled to do it. It’s amazing. I still can’t believe after two films… we have this history with this great studio. Kevin Tsujihara and Sue Kroll and Toby Emmerich said to me, ‘We want you to be our Batman. I would be a ape on the ground for Matt Reeves, never mind being Batman! I’m really blown away and excited. It’s a great time in the DC universe."

As for why Casey would have said that about his brother Ben Affleck and his Batman franchise, a representative of the younger Affleck said "he was having fun with folks" but did not have any "firsthand knowledge" of the situation, despite saying in the past the brothers spoke frequently about their current film projects.

The Batman has not been assigned a release date. Affleck will next appear as Batman in Justice League, which is due out in theaters November 17.
