Casey Affleck doesn't think his brother Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Batman for Warner Bros.'s planned The Batman film. The younger Affleck said that during an interview with WEEI Sports,
“I thought he was an OK Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say."
When one of the hosts points out that his comments would be "breaking news," Casey Affleck responded that it was just his speculation.
“Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”
You can listen to the exchange here, beginning at the 6:30 mark:
Casey Affleck has worked with his brother Ben on several films, and has said in a 2013 Collider interview that the two are "very close" and talk about the films each are working on at the time.
Casey Affleck's comments however, would be in heavy contrast to Ben Affleck's response at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2017 about his rumored departure from the movie.
“"Let me be very clear. I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest character in any universe - DC, Marvel and I’m so thrilled to do it. It’s amazing. I still can’t believe after two films… we have this history with this great studio. Kevin Tsujihara and Sue Kroll and Toby Emmerich said to me, ‘We want you to be our Batman,'" said Affleck. "I would be a ape on the ground for Matt Reeves, never mind being Batman! I’m really blown away and excited. It’s a great time in the DC universe."
Warner Bros.'s The Batman has not been scheduled, but Affleck will next appear as Batman in November 17's Justice League.
