Kirk Acevedo has been cast as a version of DC's comic book martial arts master Richard Dragon in Arrow season 6, according to Deadline.
Acevedo will reportedly appear in a recurring arc as Ricardo Diaz, who is based on one of Richard Dragon's alternate identities from comic books.
Deadline describes Diaz as follows: "A hardened ex-con recently released from prison for crimes he didn’t commit, Ricardo Diaz is bent on taking over Star City’s criminal underworld. A master in hand to hand combat, honed by years of life on the street, Diaz has yet to meet a foe he can’t take down."
In comic books, Richard Dragon has connections to Deadman and the mystical city of Nanda Parbat, and was a mentor to the Question, as well as Oracle and Huntress. In the "New 52," he appeared in Green Arrow as a villain whose real identity was Ricardo Diaz, Jr, the son of a drug kingpin killed by Diggle.
The character's inclusion in Arrow season 6 was announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego in July.
Arrow season 6 premieres October 12 on CW.
