Updated August 15, 2017: The stuntperson who died after injuries suffered while filming 20th Century Fox's Deadpool sequel has been identified as Joi "SJ" Harris. According to Deadline, this was Harris' first job as a stuntperformer and came from a background in professional road racing.
“I’m deeply saddened by the loss of one of our stunt performers today," said director David Leitch in a statement. "No words can express how I and the rest of the Deadpool 2 crew feel about this tragedy. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones in this difficult time.”
Updated August 14, 2017: 20th Century Fox has issued a statement regarding the death of the stunt driver (via Entertainment Weekly).
“We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”
EW also reports that the stunt driver may have been a stand-in for Zazie Beets, who plays Domino in the film.
Original Story: A stunt driver was killed as a result of a motorcycle accident that occurred while filming Deadpool 2, according to CTV News Vancouver.
The unnamed performer was driving a motorcycle for a stunt scene when she reportedly lost control of the vehicle, careening into the plate glass window of a nearby building.
CTV News reports that filming has shut down in the area, while an investigation into the incident takes place.
Deadpool 2 is currently filming for a June 1, 2018 theatrical release.
