Jimmy Palmiotti, Paul Dini, and Bret Blevins' Harley Quinn back-up stories are spinning off into its own one-shot for extra-sized conclusion. Originally announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego's Harley Quinn panel, this week's Harley Quinn #25 puts a name to that one-shot: Harley Loves Joker #1.
The first nine parts of "Harley Loves Joker" has run as a serial back-up in recent issues of Harley Quinn. Back in June, the writers teased this potential development with Newsarama when asked about a continuation of the back-up stories.
"Well, for the immediate future. And then we're going to think about the format and if we want to continue in that format or take it in a different direction," said Dini. "We love that version of the character and love telling stories about her in that universe, so right now we're just going to see to what degree we're going to tell those stories."
"We're scheming," Palmiotti added. "We're scheming right now about what comes next."
No release date was given for Harley Loves Joker #1, but at SDCC Palmiotti said fans should expect it late this year.
