Archie's Red Circle heroes are reuniting once again for an all-new ongoing beginning this December. The Mighty Crusaders by writer Ian Flynn and artist Kelsey Shannon will tell "fun, widescreen superheroes," says Archie CEO/Publisher Jon Goldwater to Heat Vision.

"These are beloved, iconic characters and it’s time we dust them off and let them shine for what they are - amazing superhero properties that deserve a bigger spotlight," said Goldwater. "We wanted to create a book that’s accessible, not mired in a million crossovers and part of a bigger, unfolding story."

Flynn, while best known as writer of Archie's recently cancelled Sonic the Hedgehog title, worked on Archie's 2012 Mighty Crusaders revival New Crusaders.

"[Ian's] done a lot of marvelous work for us and has a history with the Crusaders," explained the Archie CEO. "On art, we have Kelsey Shannon, who did some nice work on the Josie and the Pussycats book recently and has a really clear, modern and welcoming style."

This reboot - the team's fifth since it's 1965 debut by creators Joe Siegel and Paul Reinman - is intended to be a "lynchpin book" inside the Archie's superhero imprint Dark Circle, with hopes to lead to "more spinoffs and expansion."

"These are beloved, iconic characters and it’s time we dust them off and let them shine for what they are – amazing superhero properties that deserve a bigger spotlight," said Goldwater.
