A letter-writing campaign to encourage Google to celebrate Jack Kirby's 100th birthday, August 28, with a Google Doodle is being organized by cartoonist "Calamity" Jon Morris.

"Jack Kirby is one of the most important figures in comic book history, responsible for the best-known superheroes in the world: Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Avengers, and more," writes Morris. "His unique vision influenced the art form more than any other cartoonist, and remains the apex of visual storytelling. As a World War II veteran, a prominent Jewish-American, and a 'Disney Legend,' we believe 'The King of Comics' deserves to be honored with a Google Doodle on what would be his 100th birthday: August 28, 2017."

Since its inception, Google has had over 2,000 'Google Doodles' on its homage, honoring people, events, and more. Those interested in requesting a doodle are encouraged to email proposals@google.com.
