Captain Marvel will not make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Avengers: Infinity War. Co-director Joe Russo dropped the news at a press event after Marvel's Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International: San Diego last Saturday.

"She's not in Avengers 3," Russo flatly told ComicBook.

According to an unconfirmed report from December 2016, Larson-as-Captain Marvel was slated to debut in Avengers: Infinity War, along with Karen Gillan's Nebula, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, and Benedict Wong's Wong. All of those except Larson were eventually confirmed as being involved in Infinity War.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also previously said that Captain Marvel was included in an early version of Avengers: Age of Ultron but was cut from the final draft of the film.

Avengers: Infinity War is due out May 4, 2018, with Captain Marvel to follow on March 8, 2019.
