The 1981 arcade Galaga is being developed as an animated series by the Nuttery, accordin to Variety. The Bandai Namco Entertainment game is being developed as Galaga Chronicles, which new characters and stories based on the iconic shoot 'em up.
“We are incredibly honored to be able to work on such an amazing legacy property and help launch it into the animated space,” said Nuttery co-founder Magnus Jansson. “There is such a deep love for this game from fans around the world, and our team is excited make sure the next chapter in the Galaga saga is equally impressive and inspiring as its humble 8-bit beginnings."
Bandai Namco executive Hirotaka Watanabe said adapting the game to animation will be "unique" but that the team involved have "a great respect for its history."
